Chuandongbei: A Firm Foundation

Chuandongbei is a major co-venture between US energy giant Chevron and the China National Petroleum Corporation. A culture of safety awareness and compliance has been a cornerstone of the project since the kick-off of construction. The remote area that the project is located in offers significant logistical and natural challenges for the project team. In May 2008 a 7.8-magnitude quake struck 57 miles north-west of Chengdu with a significant loss of life.
