The Gryphon Redevelopment: Refurbishing a Key Producer

Early in 2011, high winds in the North Sea caused four of the Gryphon FPSO's ten mouring lines to break, and the vessel began to drift off its station. Maersk Oil's response was prompt and the teams on site immediately shut down and depressurised the wells.

However, in spite of this rapid response, both the FPSO and the subsea development were seriously damaged. Myriad was brought in to create a high quality documentary film capturing the recovery of the Gryphon, its tow to the Damen yard in Rotterdam and the refurbishment work that has taken place over the last 12 months. At workfronts across Europe, Maerks Oil and its contractors are making great progress on the recovery project, and Myriad Global Media's crews in Scotland, Norway, Spain and the Netherlands have been on hand to capture the Gryphon's revival.

Myriad's crews will document the Gryphon's momentous return to productive life before the turn of the year. The documentary is expected around early September.
