Two short films produced by Myriad Global Media for Maersk Oil and Qatar Petroleum (QP) have received international recognition, scooping top awards at this year's WorldFest in Houston and World Media Festival in Hamburg.

WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, now in its 44th year, is the oldest independent film and video festival in the world, while the World Media Festival is an international competition for audiovisual communications media, founded in 2000.

Amongst Myriad Global Media's six prize-winning entries at the festival, two films looked at Al Shaheen, Qatar’s largest offshore oil field. Created for Maersk Oil and Qatar Petroleum, both provide an engaging insight into the execution of this world-class project, and the technical capability and environmental management behind the field’s development.

Myriad Global Media was one of only a handful of UK media production companies to gain international recognition at WorldFest.

Their first award-winning corporate film, 'Setting a New Standard', highlights Qatar’s role in sustainable development and reducing emissions. Produced for last year’s United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Climate (UNFCC) in Cancun, Mexico, the film reveals how Maersk Oil and QP have worked together to reduce gas flaring from the oil field to a bare minimum, representing a rare achievement in the oil industry. With a stringent approach to environmental management, their gas-gathering system has been recognised as the world’s largest Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project by the UNFCC.

‘Setting a New Standard’ won the Public Relations: Technology category at the World Media Festival, and picked up a Gold award in the 'Energy and Nuclear Issues' category at WorldFest.

The film features H E Abdullah Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of Emiri Diwan and former Minister of Energy and Industry; and Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, Director of Oil and Gas Ventures QP. The QP official said, “We’re extremely proud to be receiving international recognition for this film, which shows our commitment and ability to combat climate change while supporting economic development in Qatar.”

Myriad Global Media's second award-winning film produced for Maersk and QP, ‘The Challenge of Al Shaheen’, reveals how a field that was once widely regarded as highly challenging and commercially unattractive was transformed into Qatar’s largest offshore oil producer - contributing a third of the country’s entire oil production. The film emerged as the top platinum award winner in WorldFest's 'Energy and Nuclear Issues' category.

Myriad Global Media’s managing director James Thompson said: “We're delighted that two films we produced for Maersk Oil and QP have gained international recognition, and have proved highly effective in showcasing their achievements with Al Shaheen – both in terms of developing the field into a commercial success, and their innovative environmental management approach.”

Myriad Global Media also picked up a further four top awards at WorldFest for additional films created for other clients in the oil industry.

HSE and Asset integrity are issues of paramount concern to operators worldwide, none more so than at PDO’s new Harweel site in Oman. Having previously produced a multi award-winning safety drama ‘Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow,’ Myriad Media is now in production on a project documentary and safety induction film for the Harweel EOR site.

The level of H2S present in the oil produced at Harweel is such that stringent safety procedures must be followed at all times. The Myriad team have recently finished filming at the site and the films are now in the final stages of post-production. On completion, MGM will produce Hindi, Arabic, and English versions of the film that all employees will view before working on, or visiting the live site.

This is a continuation in a significant competency in the development of HSE, training and asset integrity work by Myriad Global Media.

With the conference season getting into high gear Myriad has been working on 3 distinctive exhibition projects for Fluor, FMC Technologies and RasGas. These will be first screened at Gastech in March and OTC in May.

	FMC

The film for FMC involved our team of highly talented local Directors of Photography (DoPs) in Brazil, Singapore, Norway and the US shooting high quality images and live action on the high definition 7D camera system. The end product is a highly engaging 3 minute commercial and will be previewed on a massive panoramic screen at this year’s Offshore Technology Conference. OTC in Houston is scheduled from 2nd – 4th May.

	Rasgas Interactive

Myriad worked for 18 months to create an interactive touch-screen presentation covering all aspects of the company’s operations, LNG fleet, CSR and affiliated energy projects. It has proven to be greatly successful and is now on Version 3.0. The presentation will be shown at Gastech in Amsterdam from 21st – 24th March.

	Fluor – Automation

Also previewing at Gastech will be Fluor’s new suite of Automation tools. Myriad Media created seven films that use 2D graphics to illustrate the tools in action, showing how they are used throughout a project to allow clients to make critical decisions earlier with a more transparent design.

Myriad Global Media’s latest high-profile initiative is getting Anadarko, Tullow and Kosmos on to the front cover of one of the industry’s most popular publications, Offshore Magazine.

The twenty minute documentary “First Oil – Ghana’s Jubilee” will be cover mounted on Offshore, the first time in the magazine’s 56 year history. Thirty-five thousand copies, containing the film and eight video clips in DVD extras menu, will go out with the magazine’s April issue.

Offshore’s OTC preview issue is required reading for the world’s offshore project managers and provides a unique opportunity for the Jubilee IPT to showcase their attainment of first oil on 15 December 2010, against a punishing schedule.

The Myriad Global Media team worked with the Jubilee IPT partners over an 18 month period capturing the project development in Ghana, Houston, Singapore, London, Dallas and Louisiana. Again our global crews were deployed often at short notice to capture high quality images on high definition of the major milestones from complex module lifts, to sail-aways and the various phases of the FPSO installation.

In November of 2010, the audience at the ADIPEC Conference in Abu Dhabi got to see the fruits of our work for Maersk Oil and their ground-breaking Al Shaheen project in Qatar.
To celebrate the outstanding triumph that is Al Shaheen, one of Maersk’s and the world’s largest and most complex offshore developments, Myriad Global Media created several innovative pieces for the conference. These included an HD interactive touch-screen presentation run across several monitors, more than 20 film clips for a state-of-the-art motion sensor screen; and a series of documentary features run on a touchscreen covering some of the key areas that made this project different. Many of the clips shown at the conference can be seen at Myriad’s website at www.myriadglobalmedia.com.

Maersk’s installation early last year of 15 new production platforms and other facilities at the field off the Qatar coast have improved production and operational efficiency at Al Shaheen. All of the platforms are connected and supplied power by subsea cables and pipelines. Myriad has been covering the progress of the Al Shaheen field for two years.
