Putting the Kaminho FPSO on a glass screen at Angola Oil & Gas 2026

A 77-inch transparent OLED, a real-time digital twin of the Kaminho FPSO, and a hologram for the opening ceremony: how we helped TotalEnergies hold the room in Luanda.

The Angola Oil & Gas event is the country’s biggest energy gathering, and this year TotalEnergies arrived with Kaminho, its flagship deepwater development, at the top of the agenda. Our brief was to make the booth the place where that project became tangible. Here’s how it came together, and what we learned on the way.

Plan the booth before you build the booth.

The booth had less floor than ambition, and the centerpiece we had in mind was a 77-inch screen. Rather than argue over drawings, our tech team took the booth renders TotalEnergies already had and rebuilt them as a 3D replica in a small web app. The client could pick the stand up and put it down anywhere, instantly seeing what stayed walkable. The final position was settled long before anything was manufactured.

A transparent screen changes the room.

The display itself is one of LG’s state-of-the-art transparent OLEDs, mounted in a Kaminho-branded stand we manufactured to match the approved mockup. Content seems to hang in a sheet of glass while the booth carries on behind it, which stops people in a way another bright rectangle never would. On it ran a touchscreen application we designed with a deliberately futuristic edge: a sleek, minimal interface that a first-time user can drive confidently with an audience watching.

The fast route to a real-time digital twin.

The app lets visitors explore the Kaminho FPSO, its subsea architecture, and the reservoir below, each section studded with hotspots that glide the camera to a key detail and open an information panel beside it, with a gallery of photographs from the ship’s development for good measure. The technical story sits in how the vessel got there. Our engineering-grade model of the ship was far too heavy for a real-time engine, and the schedule ruled out rebuilding it by hand. The shortcut: we were already rendering the ship for a separate Kaminho animation, so we produced a high-resolution video of that model and ran a gaussian splat scan on the footage. Detail preserved, file size tamed, and the result runs smoothly in Unreal Engine. Heavy modeling work, sidestepped with one good idea.

A hologram before the president.

The screen wasn’t our only contribution. For the event’s opening ceremony we produced a hologram animation of the Kaminho ship, planned to play in the moments before the president of Angola came on stage. A project that lives miles offshore and years in the future opened the country’s biggest energy event.

The moment that mattered.

At the booth, the app did exactly what it was built to do, in front of exactly the right people. The CEO of TotalEnergies and the company’s country manager explored Kaminho together on the glass, pointing through the hull at the field below. When the most senior people in the room stop walking, your booth has done its job.
