A workforce across three continents

The brief.

One of the world’s largest petrochemical plants, and a workforce that had never met.

GCGV was rising on a greenfield site near Corpus Christi, with modules being fabricated in China, Taiwan and Korea and vendors spread around the world. From the earliest days after FID, the joint venture of ExxonMobil and SABIC wanted a full-service creative partner: communication that would keep that scattered workforce informed, motivated and, above all, safe, through every phase of the build.

The opportunity.

Give a five-year build a story everyone on it can see.

People work differently when they can see what they’re building and where they fit. So we made the project visible to itself: animation showing how the site would develop over time, timelapse cameras at four positions capturing it actually happening, and films and interviews connecting the yards in Asia to the field in Texas. The site told its own story as it grew.

The work.

We started filming as the last cotton harvest came off the land, and stayed until the ribbon was cut.

Across almost five years: development animation, continuous four-camera timelapse, films and interviews from site and yards, stakeholder and community engagement content, toolbox talks, safety inductions, and coverage and management of the project’s key moments. The arrival of the mega modules from China, engineering on a scale few people ever see, became one of the campaign’s defining films.

The impact.

A build this size runs on alignment, and alignment runs on communication.

Across the whole build we gave GCGV’s leadership a continuous channel to a global workforce through every phase of construction, supporting safety, morale and momentum from first earthworks to the ribbon-cutting. And it left the project something permanent: the complete visual record of a mega-project, from cotton field to opening day.
