On location in Suriname

The brief.

You can’t mobilize people to a country they can’t picture.

As TotalEnergies moved its team into Suriname for the offshore development, most of the company had never set foot there. The induction film had two jobs: prepare transferring staff for the culture, environment and practicalities they’d actually find, and show the wider business that Suriname is a safe, vibrant and genuinely exciting place to live and work.

The opportunity.

Show the country from where the viewer will stand.

Rather than a narrated tour of facts, we built the film around a first-person perspective, using a POV helmet rig on location so new arrivals experience the journey before they make it: the places they’ll pass through, the conditions they’ll work in, the country as it actually looks and moves. Immersion does what information alone can’t; it replaces imagination with familiarity, and apprehension with anticipation.

The work.

Planned hard, so it could feel effortless.

The concept drew on our previous filming in the Amazon region, and meticulous pre-production made a demanding location shoot run to schedule. The POV rig footage was cut with tailored induction content built specifically around what a transferring TotalEnergies employee needs to know, delivered on time and on budget.

The impact.

Staff who arrive already oriented, and colleagues who want the posting.

The film gives TotalEnergies a repeatable way to prepare every transferring employee with a realistic insight into life and work in Suriname, and it shows the country as it deserves to be seen, replacing the patchwork of second-hand impressions that usually fills the gap before a move. Delivered on time and on budget, it landed well with the client on both the process and the result.
